Litigation Support & Expert Witness

Our Litigation Support services and Expert Witness services can assist with the following matters:

When financial disputes or contract breaches deteriorate to the point where they have to be resolved in court, it is often the case that you need an expert witness in order to support your argument.

Expert forensic witnesses can often prove to be the authority that plaintiffs or defendants require to substantiate their claim (or defence), or to ensure that an accurate portfolio of assets is disclosed.

Friel Stafford are experts in forensic accountancy and have over twenty  five years experience of supporting our forensic analytics with proficient testimony in many varied legal and commercial disciplines. Our Directors have given expert witness testimony in the Circuit Court and the High Court.

What an Expert Witness Does

The primary role of expert forensic witnesses is to effectively communicate the findings of financial investigations in a courtroom in such a way as it will withstand legal scrutiny. It is in effect Litigation Support.

In formulating our Expert Witness reports we follow the guidance set out in the Rules of the Superior Courts. Click on the following link for the relevant rules.

Because of the cross-examination an expert witness is likely to come under, it is vital that he or she is knowledgeable, articulate and capable of thinking quickly.

As Experts in forensic accountancy and litigation support we awork closely with many other parties – not only to establish and present the facts concisely and competently, but also to identify weaknesses in opposing arguments.

Some of the parties we would expect to work with when acting as an expert witness include:

  • Solicitors and barristers
  • Quantity Surveyors
  • Regulatory agencies
  • Government agencies
  • Insurance companies
  • Financial institutions
  • Receivers and liquidators
  • Companies
  • Private individuals
