In the column I address queries regarding maintaining payments in a Personal Insolvency Arrangement, a divorce, a bankruptcy and how a sole trader can deal with VAT liabilities.

In general terms, it is proving difficult to advise many individuals and SME’s on what steps they should take given the uncertainties caused by Covid. In some ways we are like Consultant Surgeons: We cannot operate on an injury until the swelling has gone down so that we can determine what damage has been caused, and what is the best treatment.

At this stage we do not know if the swelling will get worse before it gets better.
